Forewood

My warmest congratulations to the parish of St. Thomas of Canterbury, Woodford Green on their Centenary.A parish is a community of faith; it is the Church in miniature and a repository of the gifts of the Spirit. Every Christian community is challenged to see that those gifts are shared and used with generosity and with joy in a spirit of true partnership. As you read the following pages you will see how this partnership between the ministries of priests and lay people has enabled the parish here at Woodford Green to develop and grow in a most wonderful way during the past one hundred years.

I am delighted to have this opportunity to record my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the Franciscans who have served the parish with such tremendous commitment and zeal during this time.

It is a tribute to them that the parish is a true community of faith, and this faith must be at the heart of all your plans for the future.

May God accept our thanks for the past 100 years and richly bless the parish in the years to come.

The Rt. Rev. Thomas McMahon, Bishop of Brentwood
